Welcome to the Cawsand and Kingsand Family Tree project website and members intranet facility.
The project aims to create a village family tree and archive facility for the twin villages from the present day back
through the generations of the villages and surrounding area of the Rame peninsula.
Around the tree will be developed an archive of the people - what they do and did, where they lived, their folk lore and yarns. This all sert against the backdrops of their times - what was going on in the area dn the country as a whole.
Copies of documents from birth and death certificates, personal memoirs and photography will all be archived both physically and electronically. The object is to create a resource for all who treasure and value these things to access and enjoy.
The villages of Cawsand and Kingsand are situated on the Rame Peninsula
in the furthermost reaches of south east Cornwall. Hanging to the coastal cliffs and beaches, the villages have over many hundreds of years developed their own unique culture and family structures, the richness of which is visible in the village architecture and activities.
Villagers are rightly proud of their heritage which boasts a richness in Cornwall.
In origin a seafaring people who have for generations made their living from the seas and shores of the area. Fishing, boatbuilding and smuggling. Generations have seen a fine living from each of these activities which have fuelled the rest of the local economy from the farms to the bakeries and shops, to the transport system and so it has gone around providing an insurpassable colour.
This project recognises the value in the living history that stems from the village peoples and how they linked together. The old family structures that ran things developing their own unique brands of culture and values that are being lost in today's world.
The project is a tribute to those who have and are part of the development of our villages.
